Quilting Flop Sweat
I work with some very accomplished quilters. It's kind of a fringe benefit of working at a museum - you get some really talented co-workers. Today I am feeling overwhelmed and a little bummed. I'm learning about fusibles, and my lack of experience (and exacting technique) is making me feel like I do not belong with these people. I realize they all had to learn, too - but man, there is some serious performance anxiety / pressure going on here. I keep telling myself that we each have our own areas of excellence, but today I feel like I'm acting out my reoccurring college dream where I walk in to the classroom on final exam day and I've never been to a single class.

What fusible product are you using? I find that they can be drastically different.
ReplyDeleteDebbie was using Wonder Under, I'm working with Heat 'n Bond Lite. There seem to be so many different varieties for different purposes. I'd like to get a sampler pack and experiment with bits of different types.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Misty Fuse? I can send you a little to try if you want. I bought a whole bolt/roll of it. I like it best for some things, and Heat n Bond Lite for other things. I am no expert though.
ReplyDeleteEmail me your address if you want me to send you an envelope with Misty fuse.

Misty Fuse? No, I'm reeeealy new to the fusing scene. My mom used fusibles on on wall hanging quilts, but alas that ship of her knowledge has sailed and she took a world of information with her. I'm getting started on applique, and I want to do it by hand but I like the idea of anchoring the bits in place. Thank you for your very kind offer - I'll keep it in my tickler file. I'm really pressuring myself to finish up the big batik quilt top and 2 wall hangings for the kitchen before I really dive in to fusibles! Thank you!
